Bang Bang Dance for Poppa Clive!

Hi Poppa Clive, we love this song and thank you for answering all our questions, Whaea is sorry they did not all publish so she has found a better technology to use and that won't happen again :)

Ra Whaanau ki a koe, Happy Birthday!

We celebrated these children's birthdays this month... thank-you to the Biddle whaanau for Punawhakaata's delicious cake!  That was so kind and generous :)

Harold and Life Education

This term we visited Harold the Giraffee on the Life Education Truck, we even took our favourite puppet Skippyjon Jones to meet him!  The lessons were centered around our 'uniqueness' and personal safety out in the community...

Each of us we chosen to add an essential to Health on this poster, from love to oxygen, food, sleep and exercise.

Harold came out to greet us and sing a song, we sang "Aroha is Love" back to him.... then we all got to tickle him under his chin!

Harold's Whaanau

"Be with a trusted adult, wear your safety helmet on your bike" says Harold

"Have a trusted adult watching you on the playground, take turns and be patient."  says Harold

"Wear safety pads and helmets at the skatepark and have a trusted adult there to make sure you are safe and to help you if you fall."  Says Harold

"Keep together, manaaki each other."

"Play near a trusted adult, be kind, enthusiastic, a good team member."  Says Harold

Our favourite part was waking Harold up when he was snoring against a tree on the big screen.  He had to go finish his writing/tuhituhi like us before he could go play with his friends.  We LOVED taking all the puppets for a safe 'pretend' walk around the school and laying down inside the truck to stare at the stars in the van ceiling, I want those in Room 3!

Thank-you Harold :)  See you next year!

Promise demonstrates her Jujitsu

Ka rawe Promise, thank you for showing us your medal and one of your moves today!

Pakiwaiatara/Storytelling for Matariki

This Term our storywriting has been inspired by the traditional Maori Legends of Maui Tiki-tiki a Taranga, Ngatoroirangi- guide of Ngati Tuwharetoa, Hatupatu, Papatuanuku and Ranginui, their children.... the guardians of the sea, forests, storms and more...

Here we are at our drawing table, learning kowhaiwhai and other Maori patterns like koru.  We like to draw Taniwha, Maui, Uenuku and other characters from the pakiwaitara we have shared.

We have celebrated Matariki-the Maori New Year with a concert for Whaanau this morning and performed our Matariki Jump Jam Waiata.
Thank you to all whanau who contributed delicious kai for our shared lunch!
