Stories from Room 3

Whaakarongo Mai Te Whanau ki a pakiwaitara...listen to our stories!

To help your child's skills as an author have them say the sound a letter makes with you, this is key to being able to write words they don't know.  Every night practice their high frequency words on their word ring with them till they recognise them all :) they will also use these in sentences for writing.

Library Day

Our Library Day is a Friday, we go visit Whaea Paula and choose a book we like!
Please make sure your child's book is returned in their book bag by the following Friday so they are not disappointed and can choose another great book/pukapuka.

Roasting Marshmallows

Titiro Mai!  Look at us, we are pretending to roast our marshmallows on the fire we all built together.  In Room 3 we keep our imaginations active by creating experiences such as these or acting out stories from our books or writing....  I believe in nurturing young minds that can create, imagine and inspire :)

Haere Mai and welcome to 2016!

Haere Mai and welcome to Room 3's Blog for those new whaanau joining us to see regular pictures and video of your tamariki's time in Room 3.  Our Blog helps to give you a window into the classroom and see some of the learning that is taking place.

We had an awesome first day getting to know each other.  We went on a hikoi/walk around the school to ensure children know the safe places to go and where to get first aid, order lunch, attend the breakfast club and find fruit (when given that responsibility) for the classroom.

While on our walk we collected pinecones and sticks to make a 'fire' which we are going to pretend to roast our marshmallows on tomorrow/apopo just like some us did camping this summer!  So more photos of that to come.

Please enjoy these ones below and talk with your child about their friends and creations in Room 3.

Nga mihi mahana/warm greetings, Whaea Janine :)

Dances through the ages

What an amazing morning we had watching every class perform a dance from a different decade right up to 2010.  We danced too, but I will be recording that in class today.  We performed an enthusiastic version of Crocodile Rock from the 1960s!  Thank you to all whaanau who could make it :)

Here is our version of Crocodile Rock...
