Play and Mahi

Play and work/mahi go hand in hand in our classroom, children work on set tasks and ones they have set for themselves.  Creativity like these examples are shared and valued highly because using our imaginations is just as vital in learning as being able to follow instructions well.  I believe in providing a classroom with a balance of challenging academic work appropriate for that child's level as well as opportunities where they can be individuals, socialize and select their own learning.  I hope that this balance helps them to view themselves as capable and confident learners and that they experience a strong sense of belonging in the classroom environment because of the choices they are able to make.
