We love playdough!
We have a new playdough table to explore in small groups before school and during maths or reading, here are some ways we use the playdough...
To form the letters in our name...
To form numbers...
and to make giant caterpillars!!
Buddy Learning
Last week we changed learning buddies, all term children have had a buddy for sharing their stories before starting storywriting... I had assigned each a buddy but I thought it would be better if they chose their own!.
During maths this week we have been with our learning buddies playing addition and number recognition games to consolidate some of the learning we have done this term in maths.
Wiremu and Tei-Ngariki needed a new challenge so I showed them how to match and order dominos, great mahi boys!
Cyrus is learning to add larger sets of objects togethers, he worked out there were 28 dinosaurs in his dinosaur paddocks...
Haere Mai
Room 3 has a new tama, his name is Erasmus and his family has moved back to Turangi from Australia, a big warm Haere Mai to you Erasmus!
We will also have four tamariki move from Room One into our room at the beginning of Term Four, taking our class number up to 20 :)

Tuwharetoa Festival
Tongariro School was acknowledged at the festival for the long journey to Taupo to perform, children had practiced over two terms with Mrs King and Whaea Nini to present this collection of waiata to the audience of whaanau, kaumatua and guests. A big thankyou to all those who were able to support their child at the festival and if you couldn't come thank you so much for having them at school early!! Poor Te Hoka was mauiui on the day, we missed you Te Hoka so I hope you enjoy the video :)
Here is the performance, the video begins as the senoir kapa haka rohe in the audience sing and tautoko the teina rohe on stage. I apologise for my amatuer filming, I attempted to get a close up of each child from where security made those with devices sit. Arohanui, Janine

Listen to our storywriting :)
The children are so amazing when I'm recording! and patient for their turn, we talk about using our loud 'monster' voice when you read to the camera but you may find some voices quiet... still their perseverance and courage in front of the group is fabulous!
